Abstract

Cyclamate is an artificial sweetener that is popular in Indonesia and has a sweetness level of 30 times the sweetness of sugar. Cyclamate is easy to find and the price is cheap compared to sugar, so manufacturers often add cyclamate to their products to get the desired sweet taste. One type of product with added sweetener is tea in ready-to-drink packaging. The purpose of this research was to determine the content of cyclamate and levels of cyclamate in ready-to-drink packaged tea in Sidenreng Rappang Regency using the gravimetric method. This type of research is experimental research with qualitative and quantitative analysis methods using the gravimetric method. Which was carried out at the ITKES Muhammadiyah Sidrap Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory. Based on the results that have been done that samples X, Y and Z contain cyclamate with sample X obtained cyclamate content of (0.0077%), sample Y obtained cyclamate content of (0.0220%) and sample Z obtained cyclamate content of (0.0131%). Based on the research that has been carried out, the results show that ready-to-drink packaged tea contains an artificial sweetener, Sodium Cyclamate, but still meets BPOM RI Standard No. 4 of 2014 concerning the maximum limit for the use of food additives for sweeteners
